I would pull the control arm out of the mount, Bang the tare in the frame back in, V out the tare, weld, set mount back and weld to the frame. But I weld everything.

 

You can buy an old gas-burner entire 4x4 truck with a good front axle for less than an axle on a pallet will cost.

 

that is one place i hadnt thought about on my 82 1/2 ton with cummins. guess i will have check closer.

 

gas burner 3/4 ton uses a dana 44

Like Richie said, I don't see that being a very difficult repair as long as it didn't take anything else out along with it. Is anything else bent or damaged?

 

yeah, i've been trying to sell it. someone was ready to buy it and take it to el paso. good thing i wanted more than $2200 for it

for $2200 i prefer having a spare vehiculo. i need to get at least enough for a nice enduro bike!

anywho, i'm glad this didnt happen to the new owner and the fix doesnt look too hard. i've got the necessary equipment (cough, cough, except a nice spring compressor cough, cough). the Tig should be here this weekend... or should i mig it??? hrmm. decisions, decisions.

i'm not sure yet. hopefully i will have it all apart by next weekend. i just replaced the upper control arm so i hope to god that it's still okay. $160 wholesale! i'm going to assume that the ball joints are wasted after this, i guess i will fork up the dough for the moogs this time. i wish there was an alternative to these ball joints, it seems like they should be more heavy duty.

luckily, i was going very slow when it happened, and i only drove maybe another 50-100 feet before i parked and got it towed. that being said, pray for Mojo that nothing is bent !

 

I would stick weld it. I would clean it up and weld it with 7018 rod.

 

or mig it and the coil wont be to hard put the truck on jack stands and use a floor jack to lower the lower arm and just be careful and watch out

 

I have chained a spring before so if it shot out it would not go anywhere.

burn a nice hot one with some 6010, then cap it out. I would imagine you want full penetration.

 

Plenty strong enough for use under a 2WD and way better than the flimsy 2WD factory mess.
