Got some issues - need help today

OK, as the subject says, I have a couple of issues at the moment.
Yesterday, I was into the skinny pedal a little, and all of a sudden it just lost a bunch of power. After that, I couldn't get boost over 25psi, where it was 34psi previous to this incident. I checked all of the boots and tightened the clamps and it didn't seem to make a difference. It almost feels like there is something binding in the linkage somewhere - suggestions? If it matters, the turbo barked on me a couple of times on Tuesday - the typical in a hurry and trying to move around slower traffic and some moron cuts in front of you while you are at 30psi and you have to jump out of it.
Secondly, no matter what I do, I cannot get the *%$#$@! trans pan to quit leaking. I have the good plastic/rubber gasket from the dealer and all the pan bolts are tight. It almost looks like the pan is somehow getting pressurized and the fluid is being forced out. If it sits for 8-10 hrs, I will have at least a 6" puddle on the ground.
Now, I am heading out of town wheeling this weekend, so I will be towing my Jeep 4 1/2 hrs each way, so I need to get some feedback to try and get this fixed this evening.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

There's got to be a boost leak somewhere...you may have to build some caps to seal up the intake tubing/ic combination so you can pressurize it and look for leaks. Also, remove the intake tube and check the turbo shaft for play...they don't take too well to barking.

Do you have the stock tranny pan? How tight are you getting the bolts? Sounds like the pan my be mis-shapen from overtightening. 3-5ft/lbs with a stock tin pan is about all I go.

that's a vary good idea.....could be the problem!!!!

also if the pan has been tightened to much it will leak till you get a new pan!!!

I would take a good close look at the shift shaft first!

I thought that is where it was leaking a couple of weeks back, but the seal was in good shape and doesn't appear to be leaking there. I made sure to clean up the seal area when I put the valve body back in last weekend. Thanks for the idea though.

Hey Greg. Pan bolts are tightened to factory spec - 96 inch/lbs = 8ft/lbs. A buddy of mine suggested that maybe the vent is plugged and maybe just pull the dipstick up a bit to let it vent through there (he's a mechanic by trade and 1st Gen affecionado).

Same buddy also suggested maybe the horizontal pin in the AFC may be sticking - maybe I'll pull the AFC cover tonight and have a peak. I could also get the wife to power brake the truck later and see if I can figure out if one of the boots has a small hole in it.

Keep the suggestions coming.

the only time that seal, will leak, or leak really bad, is when the truck is off and the TQ drains back into the pan raising the lever well over the seal!

Might want to dubble check it or park the truck so the passanger side of the truck is lower then the drivers side.......and see if it stops or slows down a lot!!!

Thanks Flash - I'll take a closer look again tonight just to make sure. Never fails, I had the seal and didn't change it becuse it looked fine.
So, theoretically, if the main portion of the leaking were to take place overnight once the convertor drains back, I should have no issues while driving as long as I don't mind a little bit of a mess, right?

OK, I just ran out to pick up a couple of things at lunch and gave the throttle a good whack and got 32psi out of it. I just filled it up this morning and put some additive in it (FPPF Lubricity w/Fuel Power), so maybe with the low fuel light on it was skimming the junk fuel on the bottom? Is this just a coincidence or is it a possibility?

A.....yes and no?

It probably will not leak much while driveing it,if it is the shift shaft seal!.......but,didn't you say that you had a 4 hour trip both ways?

If it's leaking and it get hot the leak could get bigger due to the oil thining out!

you would problably be fine........but being a way form home and causeing a tranny to slip and posiblay fail? if you can find enough time, fix it!
Just food for thought
