Got the HE351VE on

Well, I think I finally got it. It's a little laggy off the line, about the same as the other turbo, but when it lites, it lites.....I put a 12.5# spring on it, so the lever doesnt even start to move until 15psi, and then it doesn't move very far. I'm seeing a little more than 30psi, which, I dont think is bad since i have no programmer. EGT's are back check. It runs a little hotter on acceleration, but cruising it is about 50* cooler and I cant get it over 1250* no matter how hard i try. I definitely like it more than the other. Now all I need is to add the on board air to make the exhaust brake work.

i like that!
Im not sure if i totally understand how you did it!
how did you close the existing holes in the turbo? (with what?)
btw its nice to see you can moachine the manifold to put a nut behind it

I drilled the existing holes to accept a 1/4" pipe tap, threaded the housing, than used 1/4" pipe plugs (there's one laying on the housing in one of the pictures)to fill the holes. This allows you to re-drill and tap the housing to a standard t3 bolt pattern and install the studs.
Be very carefull when grinding the manifold. There is JUST enough material in that area for a standard 3/8" bolt(9/16" hex) No room to spare there, when I was finished, the wall thickness was only 1/8".

Yes, the exhaust housing has a reciever ring for the vanes that rotates 360 degrees. The housing is clockable in any position. It is a bit tricky to get it together after taking it off and rotating it, but far from impossible.

The pins just pulled out with a pair of pliers for me too, no grinding necessary and very easy. This was on my HE351CW though.
