Finally I have the change to put a ls in. I cant wait, I hate open diffs. At the shop we had a heck of a time finding the axle Id, Its a 70, but the stamped # dont' show up in the dana spicer bible. Not sure if it is a U or hd. anyhow, I hope the R&P isn't bad, that will put me up to around 2g's. Im going wheeling this weekend.
I talked to the shop, should get the truck back tommorrow. The axle is a 70u out of an 83, origionaly with 4.56 and a power lock. That is low, to help make up for the 120hp 360ci I guess. I was under the impression that the 70u was pretty week, but it has been in my truck for a long time, the old owner towed a big gn cattle trailer and my dad used to gross weekly over 22k for 5 years, and zero issues. All towing in ultra hot Redding. Anyhow, Im looking at right around 1100. Not bad, they are going to set the thing up to be as aggressive as possible, Im pretty stoked. Been smiling all day actually.
