Getting ready to start it up
Getting ready to start it up
I have a 1992 2wd RC that has not been started for 3 years. I am getting ready to fire it up. Question: Should i drop the fuel tank and try to clean it out an add new fuel. What else should i do before cranking the engine? Thanks JJ
I would check all the key fluids [engine oil, power steering, trans fluid - if it is an auto], drain some fuel from the fuel filter into a cup and take a look at it.
Does it have lots of water in it?
If it all looks goos, I would bump the starter and make sure it turns over.
I have seen alternators freeze up solid in three years, but otherwise I am guessing it will fire right up.

Thanks Oliver and I am with mknittle on Ramcharger and mknittle i have been working on getting this truck together so I can put it back on road, po had it for 2 1/2 years and not run it an i got it for a song so been taking my time! Thanks
I assumed if your on a diesel ONLY site asking engine question the RC stood for Regular Cab.
Or if it stood for RamCharger it had a 12V under the hood.
But these where assumptions
If the has a 318 don't drain the fuel filter of water...
