Crossy I have to tell you that not all 93's got the newer style. My brother ordered a 1993 w250 5spd. His still sits with the original push on style. My dads only 5spd is a 93 and it also has the push on style. Now my dually is a 92 and when I got it it had the screw on type with the bent shifter rod. It currently is sitting in storage since I swapped in the nv4500.

 

Interesting, I think it was something the dealer did, or the factory to replace the older style crappy one.

Looks nice - but that ball would look nicer with a "C" floating in it.

 

I had a buddy at Clark Motors parts dept (before it closed) and when I asked him about this shifter he told me that they were a special order item that he did sell a few but only to customers who bought and installed themselves. The sad thing is I actually looked up the parts to try and swap into my dads and there was only one dealer in the country that had the piece that the snap rings holds down. The threaded shifter handle is discontinued and no one has! Sorry guys unless you get very lucky they are gone
