Angry Getrag 360 shifter rails

Grandson found a 2000 D250 farm truck with the engine in PERFECT condition CHEAP but trans was out. I've got it rebuilt but am stuck on the shifter forks.
I've got the two outer rails out but am totally getting my butt kicked on the center rail. All the pins are pulled, the shaft isn't stuck but I can't figure out how to get it to get it out - and that's the fork that is toast.
Any help would REALLY be appreciated EXCEPT "get a new top assembly". NOT in the budget.
Thanks -PapaDon

Can you take a picture? There are case harden roll pins that are punched into the tophat. I would need to see what part you're working on and I can show you the general area. Once the roll pins are out the rods slide and the forks should come out with ease.

Be very careful as the forks are a soft aluminium alloy and can damage easy.

The rail has to be turned 90 degrees then it will come out.* HOWEVER, when it comes free there is a spring ball assembly that will come out with lots of ENERGY*, and fly off into the sunset....ask me how I know. I was lucky and found the pieces in my shop, I recommend covering with a towel or similar to keep pieces intact
