Get a fuel pressure gauge!

Ok, so I got some new stuff for the '89:

So, we pulled of the stock LP and this is what we found:

The break looks old, who knows when it let go?? Should have had a FP guage and would have know what was going on.

Any body ever seen this?

BTW, KDP was out a 1/4"

I think you might notice a slight performance improvement...

Several guys have had lift pump levers break there. Usual symptoms are hard starting and poor power.

What's the fuel pressure gauge of choice? I had a 01 that had the dual needles, I think Isspro. Seemed pretty cool. What's most of you guys using?

Surely if you can go from a healthy stock LP to a piston pump and notice a difference, then this should wake' er up!

I has always started right up, just kind of stumbled a few seconds and blew white smoke. I am ashamed that the previous owner had even mentioned these symptoms. I just figured it was the leaking fuel pin.

Anyways its off now and there ought to be good fuel pressure from the A1000. The reg is an A2000 2-port, just for a clean look, no extra holes to plug. Also it has -10 (5/8) ports all the way around.
5/8" line from tank to regulator 1/2" from regulator to IP and return from the regulator, as directed by Aeromotive.

I broke down and got the 100 micron pre-filter unit from Aeromotive. It has reaplaceable stainless screen in it.

The main filters are an FS1000 water sep. and an FF5320 2 micron. They are Baldwin filter heads, because they were only $17 each locally. Both filters and heads were $65, and next time we change them it will be about $30 for filters from the truck shop. Could be less if we got them online.

The pump is $320, reg is about $185, the 100 micron thing is one Harley Dollar ($100). It does start to add up. There is about $150 in hose and ends and fittin's!

I am going to go work on it.

It's a prefilter between tank and electric pump.

The filter heads can be had from any truck shop that sells Baldwin or Fleetguard filters.

Those Fleetguard heads are nice, good quality stuff. I have one for my coolant filter.

I got the filter heads from the local big truck parts store, they were arond $17 each.

The pump lever must be in the bottom of the pan. Couldn't find it.

We are going to do the KDP, torque timing case bolts, loctite new seal into IP, and clean the side of the motor. Got the sound deadener off.

Got the -12 x -10 90* fitting in the botom of the tank. -10 line to pump and pump mounted.

SWEET!! I would replace the tappet cover gasket while you have the injection pump removed. I wish I did mine on the crew cab while I had the motor out. I replaced every other gasket except that one and sure enough it's the only one that leaks.

I think Aeromotive recommends 10 gauge wire for the power to the a1000. I had a large length of 8 gauge wire I used and haven't had any problems.

So that is going to suck the fuel out from the tanks bottom ??

That would be a good place to also TEE in a drain.

Gravity fed. The a1000 enjoys pushing rather than pulling.
