Gears and RPM and EGT

so 3.07 315/75R16 47rh. I pulled the boat today. @75 run fine but 1200 on pyro that was od and lock up. to get my EGT to a safe level had to run 65 no lock up no od.

Have not mastered the autometer alt tach so not sure it was reading correctly.

My questions

1. Can I just swap gears 4.10 for the 3.07 or do I need whole new axles housings?
2. What are my Axles dana 70 front and rear?
3. What is the redline of this beast?
4. What would be the best rpm to run at 75

Thanks again

As far as I know the 307 had a different axle called the 70 u. It had more area for the ring gear as it was bigger. I dont think you could put 307 in a regular housing that had 354 or lower. But im not sure about reversing that and putting 410s in a dana 70u. I wouldnt see why it wouldnt work. Also your front axle is a dana 60 your rear is a 70. Gears out of any other danas will work except chrysler used a different rear pinion bearing so you would have to change it. It is about half the size of a normal dana pinion bearing. Although it does depend on year of the axle also. I have 354 with 285/75/16 tires and at 75mph in fifth gear its nice on egts

You have a dana 61 front and a dana 70u in rear. You can put other sets of gears in those axles but it requires some special shimming.

I ran the numbers and I am going to go 4.10's. Any one know a good source for a set of diff's with 4.10. Not sure I want to rebuild mine.

stock it should run 2400 rpm @ 75
315/75r16 od should run with 4.10 2000 rpm @75
