Gear Vendors install?

About to install my GV and wondering if there is an install thread on a 1st gen?

Also, those that have one already, did you change to the slip yoke on the rear or stay with a fixed yoke?

My GV currently has a slip yoke but would prefer a Fixed yoke, not sure if it can be done and/or how much to change?

I may have to call GV and quiz them.

Isn't it suppose to install between the transmission and transfercase? That way you could use it in 4wd?

No, the US gear OD installs between. The GV installs on the rear of the t-case and cannot be used with 4wd.

You will need the slip joint. As the rear end goes up and down the drive shaft gets longer and shorter. Just my two cents, Mike.

Yup, the stock has a slip joint in the middle of the shaft, like the front driveshaft. This one will have the slip at the output.

I like fixed yokes as you can pull the shaft and still drive without losing oil if you have u-joint troubles.

I talked to GV and they do offer fixed yoke units but they need to have the mainshaft altered. I wont worry about it, all my old chevies had slip yokes and i never had any troubles with them.

Gear Vendors pics

Here's a couple shots of the mounting for a divorced Gear Vendors. You can also mount them straight onto the tail of the trans with the right tail housing adapter. These are really straight forward. Just have to have drive shaft adapted or new ones made.

On my truck I did not divorce the GV. Mine bolts on to the T-case. Is this going on a single or ex. cab?
