gauges
gauges
I finally bit the bullet and bought me some good gauges. Question is where is the best place to install the egt probe and boost sensor. I wanted an opinion before I got started. THANKS in advance !!!!!!
There is already a hole for the boost line. On the intake "log" of the head there is a tapered pipe thread plug. Just take that out, and most boost gauges come with the correct fitting. For the pyro, drill the exhaust manifold right near the turbo flange. Towards the back. It is divided, so dont drill the middle. the back cylinders tend to get a little hotter. I'll try to find a pic for you.
Here is a pic of the EGT probe. Thanks to Wannadiesel

Here is a pic of the side of the head (Jim Lane's truck) for the port that SOOT is talking about it is on the right set of injector lines where they spread apart just to the left of the "electric" sensor. The picture after is with the bracket on you can see the hole where the sensor is and on the non ic trucks there wasn't a hole but on the ic truck you should have a hole to be able to get in and take the plug out that is where you want to put the "boost" line at.

Hope that helps you out.
