gas tank strap removal

Ok I'm stumped . How do I stop the bolt that goes down through the that holds the strap from spinning while I take the nut off. I have a fuel leak and need to drop the tank down but can't figure out how to hold the bolt, I looked down from the top and don't think I can get anything in there to hold it and I also put a pry bar between the tank and the frame and can't seem to get enough clearance there either.

thanks in advance. Ryan

I don't know if you have a way of lifting the bed, but as hard as it sounds, it was always easier than being undrneath.i have a backhoe( fortuneately) and kept my bed bolts never seized and it was far easier than all else.It seems hard but it was the best way.Hopefully you have some sort of means to lift, the rod is held into a threaded clip on the frame,on some, and impossible to grab. Thanks for all your help youv'e given me.

Ryan,
The bed isn't that heavy. Two good men can easily lift it. I could help you look for a couple
I have used my engine hoist, now have a beam in the barn rafters - I'm a fair drive, but would be happy to help.
Also, for me , getting the straps off wasn't that hard. There I was driving down the road minding my own business.....
Getting home with ratchet straps, now that was a challenge.
Good luck,
Bob

Thanks for the offer Bob. I have a large frame that we used to use at work to remove heavy equipment which has a ton and a half chain hoist on it, that what I'll probably use. I'm thinking this might be a good time to put the bed off of my parts truck on .
