G56 2wd into a W250
A set of bearings and reset preloads might be all it needs.
If you look at the trans. Grab the output shaft. If you can move it in and out. That tells you the problem. You can pull the PTO covers and check countershaft play also. You need inverted torx sockets to remove any bolts in the case.
If you find the output shaft has up and down play. That is a good way to get the price down lower.

His asking price is already really low...but if I could get it for a bit cheaper I would not complain.
I've really been thinking about this as a future upgrade for the crewcab, but I really should be spending that money on my rear diff rebuild first.
Thanks for the advice on what to check!

Why a FSO. The gear spread on them isn't much better than the Dodge selection is. A SAE #3 adapter has firewall and floor board issues. The trans will have floor issues. The only thing going for them they are cheap. Certain models of FSO's have issues also.
The big trans are normaly RTO's and so on.

But I have decided I need to redo my front, and possibly the front diffs first. But I will probably go with a GV unit as well...eventually.

Very tempting for the price. I'm thinking I might go the gearsplitter way instead of swapping in a g56 though.
