Question Fuel shut off solenoid is bad.

On my way to a local truck pull my fuel shut off solenoid went bad, I ran a wire through the firewall to pull the manual shut off. I was able to pull my truck never the less. Should I Pull the solenoid off and check for the rubber tip coming apart. Will this get in to the pump and wreck it?

If it's still running it's fine. Either gut the solenoid and use a pull cable from here on out or buy a new solenoid and modify the tip so it doesn't rip off again.

I should remove and gut it. I don't want any pieces coming off the tip. I grabbed a shut off cable from a big rig engine.

take it out and grind it down to the rubber and it'll shut the truck off and wont get more rubber in your pump. Its not bad to take out.

Will the rubber that has come off hurt my pump, or plug my lines?

didn't on mine, and i had a pretty big chunk missing. I think at that high of pressure, it will eventually break the rubber down and send it through.
