fuel screw, idle

Ok so yesterday I removed the collar off the screw. Since I don't have a tap and die set I could only get 2 1/2 more turns on it from where it was.

So as everybody know when the screw goes in it raises the idle.
I tried adjusting the idle back down and ended up haveing the idle screw pretty much backed all the way out and it never changed the idle. Its still reving at about 1000. And won't go lower then that.
The linkage does come all the way back around and rests on the screw.
What's going on with this why won't the idle go back down.

Next thing is I took it for a drive. it was great around town no issues. I got out on the highway and so before when I had the screw turned in as far as I could with the collar on it would get up and cruse at 120-130kmh no problem. Now I got up to 120 and it felt like it was struggling to be there. I still had more throttle but it felt like either it was defueling or the trans was slipping.
I have my doubts on the trans because the PO did some work to it and its been great never had any issues before.
Any body know what's going on here.

keep backing off the idle screw it will come down. I Know what you mean on the throttle feel. It does take more throttle response but that is the nature of it. But if you get full throttle you should notice alot more power and boost. Mine went from 10psi to 20psi at full throttle.

Have you done the full throttle travel and linkage adjustments?

Yes I moved linkage to inner hole. And I chimed the throttle to take up the slack in the cable

So if the tab on the throttle lever is against the boss on the injection pump, the next step would be to re-index the throttle lever on the shaft.

Scroll down to where it says removing the throttle lever and look at the second picture. There are degree marks on the lever and a grove across the end of the shaft. What you want to do is slip the shaft (not the lever) a notch clockwise. Then you can turn your idle screw in to get that set back to normal.
