Fuel problem

Hey Guys, I need your help here. I have a stock 93' 5.9 cummins and just today it seems to be starving for fuel in the high rpm range, feels like the governor kicks in way too early. I really have no power to go past 50 mph. This happens in fifth gear also (manaul tranny) so I think I can eliminate the governor as the problem. My thoughts are either the fuel filter or the fuel pump. Anybody have ideas. Thanks Kim

I'd do the easy things first. My Dad's '97 acted the same way when it had a clogged fuel filter, so I'd change that first.

When you look at the driverside of the engin behind the ip you will see the filter sticking down from the underside of the head just be careful when you remove it because there is a plastic piece between it and the head that spins and you don't want it to. Check the sticky there is a write up on it and part numbers for the better filters.

Are you getting fuel throttle linkage movement? As in when you put your foot to the floor does the throttle lever hit the high speed stop on top of the pump?

I finally had time to work on the truck, good thing I have a spare truck to use which also contributes to my procrastination to fix the old truck. Anyway I changed out the fuel filter and that did the trick to get me back on the road again. Thanks to everyone here on the forum for their contribution and suggestions, this is definitely the best forum and bunch of people.
