Fuel pressure psi
Fuel pressure psi
I just installed an electric SW fuel pressure gauge. Just got back from an "around the block". Seems to be runnin pretty steady at 3.5psi maybe 3.75 while runnin and maybe 4psi when I take my foot off the fuel to slow for a stop sign or light. Is this about right for a stock lift pump?

upgrade you lift pump to a low pressure piston pump and you'll see AT LEAST 10psi and it will feel like you added dual turbos on the top end,
At WOT i bet your at 0 psi with the mods in your sig,
towing 15k up a hill at 0 PSI is not a good thing on your injection pump, look in the sticky for the piston pump mod.

Yeah, I think you are borderline at idle around the block. Get into it at 50mph, and you'll likely see 0psi. But a new filter may help that. If not, a piston lift pump costs less than an injector pump. Your call.

Hey this is the reason for the pressure gauge. I just had to put in a new pump. It ain't a cheap deal. For the little time I had er out she ran about 3.5 to 3.75 idle or runnin and maybe 4 costing down in gear. How much are the piston pumps and where is the best place to get em? Or will I do just as well for what I do with a new stock pump? I use the truck to pull. I'm not lookin for the most hp or fastest acceleration. I need er to pull.
The low pressure pumps put out 10 to15 PSI. Much more than that and the VE front seal will blow out of the case.
Your pressure is low. I have a 2 year old lift pump on my truck. Prefilter I see 7 PSI at idle. Road speed I see 9 PSI. With a brand new filter on I see 7 PSI max on the pump side of the filter assy. There is a 2 PSI drop across our stock filter and heater assy.

This is the original lift pump on the truck. Ok what should the psi be at the banjo bolt at idle and at speed?
I am leaveing for a trip and gotta make a decision as to what to do here. Sounds like a new lp.
I'm gonna change out the filter in the next day or so.
I think Wana said 7 to 8 psi but I'm not exactly sure where his measuremt is from. Probably the banjo bolt.
thanks
