fuel leaking from bottom of filter

Ever since it got colder I have a fuel leak from the bottom of the fuel filter. After the truck runs a bit it stops. I discussed it with David and I have not got around to doing anything about it. I am going to replace the filter but is there anything I need to look for to fix the leak? Thanks.

Make sure it's not coming from the fuel heater gasket and running down the side of the filter. That is a very common place for these to leak, especially when it gets cold.

If it's leaking from the drain/WIF sensor, you can replace it or you can get a filter that does not use the WIF sensor. Fleetguard 1221 or equivalent.

Where is the best place to get the fuel heater gasket? NAPA or a diesel shop?

Napa didn't have it around me. I had to get it from a diesel shop and he had to order them too. I"m pretty sure it's just an o-ring, but I havn't changed mine yet (I need to)

Can you go into detail on where the o ring is located and how it needs to be replaced? My truck is also leaking fuel from above the fuel filter!

See this thread:

It's about replacing the whole fuel heater but it has good pics of the o-ring and heater.
