FSS trouble

Well now that I am moving more fuel the fss gave up on me. I am going to order a couple of those ten dollar ones. Does anyone know what size wrench or socket I need to get it out of the pump? I don't think I can get a socket in there maybe a crows foot wrench.

I know this sounds bad, I've got a huge tool box full of all kinds of fancy tools and the only fancy tool I could find to get that thing out with the pump on the truck was a hammer and chisel. I know I know, don't tell me how bad that really sounds. Please let me know if you find another way.

I got it out and gutted it for now I have 2 new ones ordered. I measured it while it was out and it was like 7/8" but I know it is metric. So I guess it is like 24 or 25 mm. Now I gotta go get a pull cable to use for now.

If you cut the stupid bracket that is in the way, you can get it with an open end wrench from the rear. I think it's 1" or 1 1/16".

I'm pretty sure its 24mm. The $10 one that I used lasted one day with a cranked pump and stock injectors. Now I use a pull cable.

Did you reshape the tip or just put it in as is?

I tried to sand it down to metal like I did with the stock one, but its not made the same way. There is more rubber and less metal on the $10 one. I have heard of other people having pretty good luck with the cheap one, but I knew having the pump almost to run away and stock injectors was going to be rough on it. Its a good excuse to buy bigger injectors.

Bigger injectors would help the FSS survive? How does that happen it dosent make sense to me.

I'm not an expert but I'll try to explain it the best way I know how...

Fuel screw in really far + small injectors = lots of fuel back washing through the pump when you lift off the throttle too quickly.

This fuel erodes the tip of the shut off solenoid. Bigger injectors seem to bleed off some of the fuel/pressure and let the solenoid live a happier life.
