Front Tranny Cooler
Its one I had around for yrs , the smallest one available from a parts house would be fine , then you have to decide if you want to put it on a switch that you would operate by watching the gauge or put a temp sensor in to control ?
how would you mount something like that ? I am having trouble with my truck running hot under load. I need a reccomendation on a trans cooler, brand and mounting tips. Also a question, please somebody explain how thr trans cooler raises engine temp if the coolers are separate from the engine cooling system? there must be a connection somewhere and maybe this is a ridiculous question. On light duty trucks the trans cooler is in thr radiator and I can see the connection. Just thought i would ask. Thanks
Theres a heat exchanger under the exhaust manifold , the idea is to get the trans up to temp , I have thought about putting a valve in the pluming to shut off the heat exchanger in warm weather .
To mount I just use wire ties , you sold be able to get the same ties that come with a new unit , they just poke through not rap around like wire ties .
Your statement ,truck running hot , does not tell us anything , is it the eng or the trans ?
Flexlite is the brand I've seen for some time , they come with instructions .

John,
I've thought about putting a 3 way ball valve between the heat exchanger and the front tranny cooler. I've heard two stories on this deal, some have diconnected the heat exch. all together and say it runs hotter and others too cold.
Barmaredneck,
You should have a small cooler up front, it's hard to see. On the drivers side look inside the the grill..top right you'll seel it, it's small. Some trucks came with an additional cooler under the bed. If you do a search you'll find some pics. I mounted a B&M cooler w/fan under the bed where they mounted the stock one from the factory.
Hope this helps..
