front end hop

When I'm doing over 65mph I get this short fast up down motion in the front end of the truck and I don't get any side to side motion in the steering wheel. The hop isn't horrable but it gets to be annoying after a while. The tires are new and balanced. I know about the issue with centering the wheels on 1st gen's, so I used conical lugs to do that. I don't think its a shock issue it seems too fast for that. Anyone else have this problem?

Thanks

Mine kinda does the same thing at 72-75. I was going to get the tires checked this week. Hope someone else has info if it's not balancing...

Sounds to me like you guys might have a seperated tire.. Jack up one side or the other, look closely as you spin the tire, feel w/ your hand too. what you're looking for is a knot or a raised bump somewhere on the tire. If you can't find anything that way, spin it faster and get in front of the tire on your knees looking at the top edge and you should be able to tell if it is seperated. Hope this helps!!

OH YEA it could be a balancing prob too..... Look around the egdes of your rims, inside and outside, you may be able to tell if a weight has been thrown off or missing...

I just had that happen to me. at about 70mph I got a small bump in the rear and it felt like the road but after about 1/2mile it was still there and had gotten worse. I pulled over expecting to see a flat. all 4 had air and looked good. I started going again and the bump was will there and was even worse now. I made it in to the reststop about 1/2 mile more. when I stoped and got out the tire had a leak and was going flat. Anyhow today I took a close look and something went wrong with the internal construction of the tire because it had a hugh bulge on the tread about 1/4 of the way around. Needless to say I'm looking for new tires sooner than i had planned.

try driving with the same "hop" x 10 because the trailer i was towing was in perfect osscilation with the truck and the cuts in the road. I have bucket seats and it was so bad I drove for 10 miles supporting myself up off the seat, and the tires only had 8,000 on them.
