Front Drive Shaft.

Hello all, took the truck out back to haul some wood and while going over some rocks I heard a snap.. Thinking it was the new suspension I put on everything looked good. Went to check the universals and I noticed my front drive shaft snapped. I took the shaft off the truck and I notice that where the front drive shaft there is three metal square things that fell out into my hand.. some other pieces of metal. I can still see the ball in there. Also notice this piece was totally destroyed.

What do you guys think I should do? Buy a new shaft or try to rebuild the joint? Basically all of this stuff http://quad4x4.com/qu40741.html is destroyed.

i would just rebuild, probably just got corroded with age, however i would look for an entire double-cardon kit that has the ball. they arent that hard to replace. i am not sure if these shafts have to be have to be pressed in, but usually they do.

if you can install new ujoints you can do this as well. the trick is to keep that spring in the center while reinstalling the joint to the shaft. When i did it I shoved a bunch of grease over the spring to hold it in place.

Does anyone know the way these go together? I assume you drop the washer in first, spring, then the three metal spaces, then the thicker washer then the seal ?

Yeah, I might need to use a pickel fork to get that ball off. It's on there pretty tight, :P
