Foam in power steering
Foam in power steering
In my '92 w350 as of late my power steering has quit and the fluid is all foamy. How do I fix it? I have a parts truck I can steal a different pump off of. There is only 250,000 miles on her not sure why it would quit so soon.
The only time I would get foam in the pump,is when I replace a gear box...At that time it's forcing air out of the system....I'm unsure way yours is foaming that way...I have 460K Kms on my truck with no pump issues...
Check closely for a pinhole in the return line. I had that problem on my 97, drove me bloody nuts until the rust took a big enough chunk to actually leak while setting. Changed it out because of the leak, not because I thought it was foaming, but fixed both problems.

I just changed out my pump a few weeks ago, If you need to pull the ps pump off the vac pump I found a 18mm crow foot helpfull. Craftsman makes tubing nut crows foot that will bite all 6 sides of the nut, very helpfull on the pressure hose. hopefully all you need is the return line, good luck.
