flywheel picture

can someone post a pic of a getrag flywheel possibly with a tape measure going across the pressure plate holes. i still wonder if i have the original flywheel. it looks like a 13" clutch and pressure plate would be tight....

it is kind of a tight fit for the pressure plate. as you may already know, it sits just inside the lip that runs on the outer edge of the flywheel. but it does fit. well, it should anyway

If you look at a sachs PP, the bolts are at the very edge, and very close to the clutch disk. It is the biggest they could go, and IMO required the cast iron PP.

That's why the newer 13" like in the 6 spd's require a starter spacer. They had to move the ring gear towards the motor. The O.D. of the flywheel is actually a hair larger than the ring gear. Because a stamped steel PP, like '94-up has to have more room between the edge of the clutch disk and the bolt circle.

Make any sense? If you see a 6 spd. flywheel you will see what I mean.

on a different note... that picture you posted do you run that particular clutch setup?

Thers a pic of the stock stuff. What can I say I am bored.

Yeah I have that clutch in my '93, it requires machining the spring pocket in the flywheel larger for the clutch hub.

Southbend and Valair have it.

It is a little grabby, not bad, just takes a little getting used too. It seems to hold well, have done a few 3rd gear launches.

The first few engagments(sp) of the day, it does make a little noise, kind of a squealing noise. Like any ceramic clutch. Seems to be worse with rain and/or high humidity.

When I was a kid my bus I took to school had a ceramic clutch. It squeeled every time she took off. Of coarse that was a severe duty appilication.

Not that my truck is great ( its not ) my stock clutch is ok so far. I don't slip or abuse it. I shift easy and it seems to hold my power just fine. I would never do a 3rd gear launch or speed shift it. I am trying to make it last.

There is nothing wrong with the stock clutch. I have read it will hold atleast 350 hp as long as you let it fully engage before pouring to coals to 'er.

It is the heaviest clutch I have ever ran accross in a pickup.
