Flushing intercoolers?

Does my 91' need to have have the interoolcer flushed??

I've owned other diesels where it was considered a 100k maintence item.

If you had it out, for some reason then hot water and Tide work good.

Just to pull it out because it has 100,000 on it.............no, unless you had a turbo failure and there is oil present in the cooler tubes.

If you have question of it afficance.....sure why not.

No, it doesn't need to be flushed. Engines that need a flush periodically have the blowby plumbed into the turbo inlet, which causes all kinds of nasty oily buildup in the intake tract. Our engines get nothing but air in there unless the turbo seal blows (in which case the intercooler will need a flush).

In my experience, it wont hurt, but I'd only do it if I had it out for other reasons, or found evidence of buildup in the turbo or intercooler tubing/ piping. (i.e. Previous owner had a big hole in the intake tube from the air filter.)
