flex plate went pow

hey guy's I need a little info. here. does a 94 flex plate fit our first gen. 518 transmissions. I have had a vibration for a while, and today it went. tore the center right out of the flex plate. trying to find one at five oclock tonight did no good. except a used one from a 94.so any info. would be appreciated.

AFAIK the 2nd gen one fits, and is stronger than the 1st gen.

Tim, we got a 93 auto 4x in the local wrecking yard that I have pilfered all the good parts off of... I gotta stick... still has the flexplate in it. If you need I can pull it and run it down to ya on thurs or Wed morn. Pm me if you need it. Still need the molding. Just need some time and a weekend pass from the warden. Jethrro

Thank's for the help fella's. as long as the 2nd gen will fit, I will use this one down here. we are in the middle of a chance in a lifetime elk hunt that my wife drew this year and I really need to get the old girl on the road fast.

Yes, the second gen fits. I put a 95 in mine when I stripped the center out of the stock one a few years ago.

Well I found a new flex plate at Cummins Northwest in Eugene Or. for a lot less than I could buy a used one for. it was only 99.00.now she's on the road again.thank's for the help fellas.

Mine blew out on me last year 2 days after returning from a 3 week trip to Alaska with the camper on! Both that was close! Still had to get it towed a 100kms home.

I replaced the Flex plate with a secong gen one and took the opertunity to upgrade to a HD torque convertor as well.
