SPS66 went pow!

I installed a SPS66 yesterday, tested it around town and then decided to make my road trip. As I was pulling into Las Vegas I got on it in 3rd gear and spooled up, wastegated at 45psi. It took off like a striped horse and then let a huge psssh sound. There are no obvious leaks, no torn hoses everything looks good. Is it possible that the hose from the turbo to the waste gate could have popped. I am getting no PSI at all out of it. It still spools, just no pressure. Any ideas? I am kind of stuck with out any tools or other transportation to get me anywhere to test the intercooler. I am also getting a code P0882.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You have a massive boost leak, there's nothing wrong with the turbo. Double check the boots, that's the most likely spot.

Do you have one of the plastic intercoolers? Hopefully it's not cracked!! Other than that I would also say check the boots...

From the sound of your thread title, I too thought you had a turbo grenade on you. That makes a very loud bang and sends pieces of the turbine everywhere at an extremely high speed.

P0882 = TCM Power Input Signal Low never heard of TCM before.

I second what wannadiesel said, you have a serious boost leak. Most likely place it would be is one of the boots. Check them all thoroughly.

Can you feel any slop in the intake side of the turbo that might make you think the bearings or shaft were damaged?
Maybe you blew off a hose someplace? You can pressurize the system real easy with a 4" PVC pipe cap with a hole and an air tool fitting screwed into it. Then push some air in and see where the leak is.
As silly as it sounds Id also check that the hose didnt pop off the back of your boost gauge.

Well a well hidden leak on the great plastic intercooler did the trick. Roadside fix, epoxy, hammer and more epoxy. I am waiting on a Intercooler from City diesel.Thank You for your help!
