factory tach

Can I just plug in a factory tach to existing wiring if my 93 truck didn't come with one, or will I have to get a harness from off the crank sensor???

Mine has the factory tach. As far as I know it is already wired. There is a plug in under the dash. I just do not know what color it is. I have seen it before on here. Your best bet would be to use the search function. But if I had it to do over again I'd put and Isspro tach on the steering collumn with a 2nd gen mount.

On the stupid dash!! Almost hits the A-pillar gauge mount I put in. If I ever have any trouble out of it I'm gonna yank it out. It's kind of useless as it's graduated in 250 rpm incriments. But at least it had a tach.

You can yank it out, put it on ebay, and buy 2 or 3 ISSPRO, et al, tachs. If I had one, that's what I'd do. Not that I especially mind the factory tach, but if there is enough money to be made by selling it, I would do it. More $$$ for go-fast or slow-down goodies.

I've seen them. Not real deep, though. I dont think the tach will fit with the light in there. Hafta get out the measuring tape and see.

If you buy a factory tach, The truck is already wired for it. The plug is hidden under the dash on the left hand side of the steering column. It can be a bear to find, but it is there.

The 2 inch guages fit 2 1/16 holes. I don't know why they even say that 1/16, there are no 2 1/16 guages are there...???

I'm looking at the factory tach because I've heard/read that the aftermarket ones are a royal pain in the britches to put in. Always adjusting them, never reading right, etc.

Did you ever figure yours out???
