Is this for real or is somebody confused about what a slant-6 is??? It appears to be a diesel due to all the injection hard-lines. I had no idea they made such a thing.

That was available in '77 and '78. Performance was pathetic, nobody was interested. It was a fuel economy engine, not a towing engine - note that it's in a half ton. When you could go just as slow with a slant six and spend about the same amount on fuel, not many people got too excited about spending the extra money on a Japanese diesel.

 

I figured it was a total turd, but I was surprised they actually tried something like that.

 

Do you know the displacement of the engine? Trans?

 

I believe 4L.

 

Looks like it has an inline injection pump on it
