Factory fuel setting

I was playing around with the pump on the 90 I got a little while ago, all the tamperproof caps were in place, when I popped the cap off of the fuel screw I found the screw turned in against the limiting collar. Would this have been a factory setting on a nonintercooled engine or is my pump not a virgin? This screw is a good bit shorter than the one on my 92 and the 92 had a few threads before the collar would have hit. Thanks

isnt the bolt and lock nut punch stamped? usually you have to thread the power screw all the way out to cut the nut off, restore the thread, reinstall to same position before increasing fuel. you need it running to find the termination against the governor (where idle speed increases to a runaway condition)

The nut is not punch stamped to the bolt. There is a collar though that is crimped and welded to the bolt. There is no good reference to the factory setting as every pump is different.

I was just curious cuz it was in against the collar and the intercooled one wasn't. I know the 92 was never touched before I got it and the 90 appeared to be untouched.

alot of them are real close to the collar stock. Some you can turn 1/2 to 3/4 round before hitting the collar some are real close already. I would say yours was probably virgin.
