exhaust tone improvement?

I'm not sure that I like the sound of my new exhaust setup. I used the factory downpipe, to a mandrel 3" dogleg, 3-4 adapter, 32" of 4" flex, to 2 90 degree 4" elbows, then out through the pass side stack. I left the drivers side stack as a dummy. It's a little on the loud side, which is not what I mind, just the tone is not very pleasing to the ear, except when I let off the pedal and it sounds good then. Any suggestions? I didn't think I would want a muffler but if it gives me a better exhaust note, I will have to look into it.

I have a dual stack setup that both are fed. I ran for about a week with no muffler and if was just plain obnoxious. People could hear me coming a mile or so away. I took a 4 inch straight through baffled agriculture muffler and put it underneath before it goes into the bed. Greatly improved, but still loud if your going to ride around with the windows down. Mine still has the great exhaust note, but the bark is toned down quite abit.

My stack's are actually real quiet, till I put her to the floor. I think that I got real lucky when I built my exhaust chamber in the bed. It could be the splitter that I welded inside breaks up the harsh tones.

That big splitter box acts like a resonator and mellows things out a bunch. Peyton, even a resonator would help, you might want to try that.

On another note - a dummy stack? Take it down, please.

MBRP manufactures several small resonators with 4" inlet/outlet, and several mufflers too but they are 30" or greater. These resonators are really short mufflers and should take care of the loudness that needs to be taken down a notch. The best part is that they are high flow, so you lose nothing other than the noise.

I ran 3 inch pipe up into the bed and covered them with 4 inch stacks. Inside the 3 inch pipe I put my own home built glass packs. I used some mesh that was made to cover your rain gutters and keep the leaves out. I wrapped them with fiberglass matting about 3 feet long and shoved them down the 3 inch pipe. You might think this is restricive but with 2 pipes there is more than enough flow. With the pump cranked to the max I still cant get more than 1100* while pulling any load. I also couldnt stand the bark after about a week and this was a cheap solution. By the way this setup has worked fine for the last 3 years on my daily driver.
