Edge ez = mileage improvement?
Edge ez = mileage improvement?
Well, does anyone know?

With the ez is there a mileage improvement ?
Loaded , or towing I suspect so, as the power gets you up to cruise speed quicker.

However empty may be another story. Has any one ever tried to check this out ? [undecided]

Gary
Re:Edge ez = mileage improvement?
I had a Diesel Dynamics true torque module (re-badged EZ) in my 01 H0. 20,000 miles without, 12,000 with before I traded for 03. I kept track of all fills and miles. I don't drive hard - only used the extra power once in a great while while getting up to speed.

Overall (total miles/total fuel) average without TTPM vs with TTPM was within .1 mpg (which was 19.?).

I never tow and drive primarily freeway/highway. INDICATED mileage on the computer read about 1mpg high after install, just about dead on before EZ.

Mathew
Re:Edge ez = mileage improvement?
I also noticed no mpg improvement when running empty, using the pencil, paper, and calculator method. In my case, my overhead computer is off (reads low) so the EZ fakes it out so that it is actually more accurate now!

Just as a reminder, the overhead trip computer gets its information from the ECM. The injection pump gets its instructions from the EZ box -- which means that the injection pump is getting more fuel than the overhead computer thinks it is.
Re:Edge ez = mileage improvement?
Slightly off subject but, after I installed my 275's my actual mileage dropped .5 mpg with same driving habits. Before the 275's my computer was within .5 mpg vs. actual. After the 275's my computer is reading almost 2.5 mpg over. "See honey, how the gas mileage improved with those new injectors".

An EZ will be my next purchase. Would love to get that .5 mpg back but the big question will my computer be off 4 + mpg with the EZ and the 275's? If so, my computer will be showing over 21 mpg city/highway! Anyone know how to hack the computer so I can get a Scotty II and 4 inch exhaust? Adding those would add at least 5 mpg more right ;D
Re:Edge ez = mileage improvement?
yea I think you can count on your overhead computer being even more innacurate with the EZ. But you might get that .5mpg back. The EZ changed by overhead accuracy by about 1 mpg.

just realize that the overhead computer gets its instructions from the ECM. normally, the ECM fires the injection pump but in this case the EZ re-maps the fueling instruction with one of its own. ergo, the pump delivers fuel for a longer period of time than the overhead computer thinks. When you add injectors, the injectors themselves cause the fuel delivery rate to increase. both affect the overhead.

I have not noticed any mileage improvement with my EZ in city driving. Highway-yes. The overhead console reads 1.5 mpg better than I am actually getting.

Mike
