engine swap with low power
engine swap with low power
I am helping a guy I work with on his ve powered chevrolet. He bought this truck already coverted. Whoever did it swapped in what looks like an industrial engine. The current owner has had the pump rebuilt at a reputable shop, installed what he calls "marine injectors" and a 3200 spring. He has also installed what looks like a hx35. The truck has alot of black smoke at any load condition. When I first drove it it was sluggish and only would build 15 psi of boost. After pinching off the wastegate and turning in the afc screw till it is flush, I had 30+ psi. However it was slow to build and didn't do alot for the truck. We advanced the timing a bit and lost some boost but power was still the same. The engine seems to run smooth at all rpm's. Can anyone offer any advice?
