After seeing the 1980, 4-headlight variant I want one of them. May take radical surgery but it would sure light my way...Li-i-i-i-ght my way...sorry, Terrapin Station derailment...

I'm in the middle of doing a short bed crew cab gasser Dodge V8 automatic 2WD to a Cummins powered NV4500 5 speed 4WD repower. It's involves taking 3 trucks and making one. It IS a lot of work doing this 2WD gasser to 4WD diesel route.

i really like 4wds better than 2wds. i like the pic of that gmc swap. is that all dodge drivetrain and a gmc body or are there adapters that can be used to just do an engine swap? since i dont have a 4wd drivetrain it would be nice to just get an adapter to butt up to a ford or chevy. i like the dodge but they are way harder to find in good shape.

the gmc is mostly dodge! its got a getrag and 205 tc
the axles are from an old logging crummy dana 60hd and dana 70hd
its got a polished aluminum freightliner fuel tank in the box
and we used a crossmember from avalanche engineering made the swap easy!! used the stock gmc trans crossmember un molested!!

I put a '89 CTD in my '79 F250. I used the engine and transmission (NV4500) from the Dodge, an Advance Adapters adapter to go from the NV4500 to the Ford NP205 transfercase. I had a rear driveline built, and was able to use the front driveline from my '79 F350 axle donor. I used the Dodge motor mounts on pearches I built myself. I rebuilt/modified the Ford transmission mount.

did you have any problems with suspension not being strong enough for the added weight of the cummins?
