Engine Problem, cylinder down?

Well im hoping for the best. Installed the water/meth last night and went out and tested it and everything was fine. Well this morning on the way home from the store I noticed the truck wasnt idling smooth and it sounded funny. Got home to take a look at it and it appears to be running on 5 cylinders, engine and truck shake at idle and there is a definate steady "miss" coming from the stacks and can be heard through the intake. So I figured i would start somewhere, pulled all the valve covers and everything is fine under there. Probed around with a stethoscope and couldnt find a cylinder or injector that sounded abnormal. So far all fluids are still where they should be. Where do I go from here, injector?, injection pump?, head gasket?, as much as I hate to say it, melted piston?

Do you have excessive blowby? this would indicate a "melted piston"
However you could have galled a piston. Also have you cracked the
injector lines to find the missing cyclinder.

I havent found the cylinder yet. Can I do that by cracking loose the injector lines one at a time until I find one that has no affect on how the engine runs?

Number 3 cylinder is the culprit, put stock injector back in and same thing so that eliminates the possibility of a bad injector. Decided to proceed on, just about got the head off, time will tell.

Good news, its just the head gasket, blew out between #2 and #3 cylinders. So it looks like im gonna be placing some orders on monday, new head gasket and ARP studs. Meanwhile im gonna get the head re-surfaced and proabably o-ringed, install the new valve springs. I also see more power in my future...

I was reading one of the other forums, and to do the o-rings/fire rings correctly they cut the groove into the block and the head. Just wanted to throw that in there in case you didn't know.

Question...is there a difference in the o-ring proccess between a gas motor and a diesel? Can a competent engine machine shop that builds race gas motors o-ring a diesel motor without problems? Or is there a diesel specific o-ring process, such as o-ring size and placement.
