That helps me understand it a little better BC847. I am not strong on a lot of the Tech specs yet, but am learning more as I go along.

Reading the posts here has been an education to say the least. This is first diesel and it is a whole different ballgame than gas, with some different terminology and a lot to learn.

I remember when Dodge first started selling their trucks with the cummins option and was really impressed, but back then they were way out of my price range. That is probably why I have just been enjoying driving my new/used truck and loving every minute of it behind the wheel.

The lights will dim even with a brand new battery, I've seen that, but I was talking about feeling a noticeably slower cranking of the engine. I only feel that when it gets real cold, not at 50.

If my lights DONT dim when cooler/ cold out, I normally know it by the way it runs at first start- it sputters and chugs like it'd only getting fuel to 4 cylinders.

WHen you turn the key to "ON" (but dont start the truck), you will hear a click when the grid heaters kick on. Then another click when the kick off. trying to start the truck with the grids on will give the impression of adraggy starter.
