Loader electrical system question

Have a problem with our Case 621B loader, yes it has a 5.9CTD for power. its 24V system ans when sitting for sometimes a day or more it will kill the batteries. Both are new, but the problem was the same with the old batteries. We turn off the master disconnect at the end of the day and this still will happen. One battery will drop down to 12.9 volts and the other to 10.5. This dosent make sense to me, wouldent both drop the same? With the key and everything off but the master disco back on you can get a small arch from touching the + to one of the batteries. This leads me to think theres a direct short somewhere. Does this sound right? Now to find is another thing.

More than likely one battery has an internal short and is pulling down the other one. Best to replace both batteries at once or you will continue to have problems. Put the good battery in another rig.

I've had more batteries fail in the first month than ones that fail even right after the warranty is over. If they are new you can get by with just replacing the bad one.

I have seen master disconnects shorting out through the housings. This results in a short to the body/frame no matter what position the dc. Try to remove/isolate the dc switch from the system. Even go sofar as to disconnect the power leads and insulate them from contact, then check for draining of batteries.

Worked for me in the past with International tractors and a John Deere 4520.

Cole Hersey rotory cut off switches have been a plague for us on our trucks. We find them shorting out quite often lately.
I don't know about Q/C lately but there is a definite change in quality from before.

If this is a fairly new 621B, I would suggest the culprit would be the electric backup pump or relay for the emergency steering and brakes.
I have had this problem on no less than 5 brand new 821s in the last two years.
Change the parts out, and bang, there it is, happy as Larry.

Good luck with it

As far as I know the 621b werent avaliable until 93. I think it was purchased 94. I was amazed the old batteries were still the originals. I will check into the mentioned items and see what I can find. Thanks all for the input, keep you posted.
