electrical gremlins
electrical gremlins
I have an aftermarket bolt on voltage regulator that one of the wires came off and fried the regulator and then overcharged the battery causing the sweet smell of acid to putrify the air. I replaced with a new regulator and all was well until the same horribly bumpy road caused the same wire to come off of the regulator. This time I was watching the gauge and saw it climb. I took both wires off the aftermarket voltage regulator to get it down the horribly bumpy road without boiling over my brand new battery. All the while my interior lights were flashing and dinging at me. They then stopped. After I got it home, the blinkers, all dash gauges, and pre heater all don't work.
All of the fuses and fusible links check out fine. Could it be the PCM causing this? I think the wires from the PCM going to the aftermarket VR might have grounded out briefly on the truck while driving down the "off" road. Not for certain though.
Also my running lights are not working. This was happening before all of the previous occured. I bought a new light switch and that did not fix it but they did come on briefly after driving down the bumpy road. The gremlins are eating at me!!! This truck has always done me right but these **** gremlins.....

checked fuse links and all look good as far as I can tell no broken/black connections. All of the ones coming from that black triangle pig tail on the drivers side from battery going into the cab.
Grounds look good too but I did not disconnect and sand then reconnect.
