Thats some fine looking numbers. Just keep an eye on them as you tweak it.

You shouldn't be seeing any boost at idle or zero throttle. Other than that the numbers sound normal.

I was wondering about that myself. I don't get any boost until i load her down good. Maybe 5 pounds at 60 mph with the trailer. The best I have seen was 25 # before I match ported the exhaust. Now I only get 22 #. I would have thought it would have gone up.

Let us see here, elevation is very low, Phila area heading north west, i cant see much more than 2000ft at the most, but could be wrong, Will look tomorrow on the hand held gps, 2lb boost, i will check to see if there is a reading when truck is off, but ignition os on!
Thank you all!
Peter.

My understanding is that if you make the air flow through the engine smoother, that boost numbers typically go down, as boost is directly related to restriction.

We'll soon find out - I started porting my head last night. I got 5 of the intakes done last night, and will finish the 6th and move on to the exhaust tonight. I figure by the time I get the porting done, have the head milled, install the new piston lift pump and kill the KDP (whew!), it'll probably be another 2 weeks before it's back on the road.

I was seeing a maximum of 32#s of boost, by I expect the boost and EGTs to drop a little.

I guess that makes sense but I can't quite visualize it. I had to make the inlet to the 16cm housing match up to the 21cm exhaust manifold. In other words I enlarged the turbo exhaust housing inlet flange ports to match the manifold. I would have thought this would allow for higher boost pressure because of the smoother transition and less turbulence.

Exclamation

OK, elevation is low, about 400' is what the lil gps says,
The boost does settle a bit after 10 sec of idle, and will sit at about 1 lb with ignition on, and not running,
Also, just to see i ran the truck to the govorned max speed of 85+mph,
got there pretty quick, pulled 1000* and 18 boost to top rev, then sat there for 1-2 miles at 925*and 10-12 boost,
