ebrake and abs

i know this has been asked before and I searched the other threads but they didn't match up to my situation. My e brake light and antilock brake lights came on today after a normal braking at a stoplight. The weird thing is they will get real dim and then really bright while I'm driving. Could it be the connection in the back of the dash has gone bad or a bad ground or something or is this a type of warning?

The dimming and brightening indicate variance in electron flow, either through changes in resistance or inconsistent charge generation. Since it it notoriously common on old vehicles, with dated electronics, I would suspect a bad ground. It is easy to put a meter on the battery to check for variation in the charging voltage. Why the lights are coming on is a whole different issue that has been covered, while maybe not solved, here on this forum...good luck Mark

I had this happen to me 6 months ago. I had to replace the break booster. but before you do that one more thing that can cause this is the vacuum sensor on the dirver side fender next to the break booster

hope this helps

Since the ABS light is on, check the codes. That will give you a place to start looking. Info on how is in the sticky.

You have an ABS code reader? Can't use a check engine light code reader.

What do you mean? And I found a hose hanging down it just fell down today. Its a rubber hose that runs along the top of the frame but since that has been hanging down the lights went out. Any ideas to wat the hose is?? I think it might be a vaccum line not sure though.

Whereabouts is this line?

You grounded the connector behind the glovebox and got no codes?

No I haven't gotten to that yet I didn't know wat he had meant by that. But it looks like it connected to something up along the fuel tank, along the frame. Its hanging by the transmission now.
