All those fixed orifice systems are marginal at best. Better than nothing but not really good.

It's been my experience that Hot Shot is an excellent drop-in replacement for R12 in refrigeration applications where retiring/replacing isn't an option.

Is that for mobile or stationary refrigeration?

I looked at the Duracool website & I still have a question. Can I use Duracool to replace the R12 in my '92?

I spoke to the Duracool people. They do have an 800 number. From what I gathered, yes you can use is as a replacement for R12 and R134.

I took a 30 mile trip yesterday, around 2 pm. It was 95 degrees and very humid. Gotta find my A/C thermometer and see what vent temps I am getting.

If I had tinted windows, I would have turned the A/C down a bit because it was blowing very cold air. But with the sun beating in, it was hot where the sun hit from the rear window and cold on the front.

I checked out their site since I think I'm going to switch over from my 134a charge. They give a by weight equivalency
1oz Duracool = 2oz Freon = 2.5oz 134a.

After evacuating the system in 1992 SM states charging the system with 3 14oz cans R-12 and a max charge of 44 oz in system. So if my math is correct then the Duracool equivalent would be half that.....22 oz max charge. But, I don't know what the actual pressure readings need to be.

The R-12 sticker on my truck showed 41 oz of R12. That comes out to be about 2.5 cans of Duracool.
