Drifting upon heavy breaking. What gives?

When I step hard into the break I tend to pull to the right upon coming up to a stop. Diagnose?

Possibly a stuck left front caliper.

Might sound funny but also check rear shoe adjustments.

Yes, check rear brake ajustments . . .when one side of mine gets out of adjustment it does that . . .soon as my rear hub nut socket gets here i will fix the adjusters.

Don't forget those rubber flex lines. They can deteriorate with age and swell inside or weaken and expand and reduce the fluid pressure to one side. I've had that happen before.

Probably not a bad idea to replace as a maintenance item. There's another set going from frame to axle too but those wouldn't affect just one side. I remember a thread somewhere recently about steel braided ones .

I replaced the ujoint on the front axle of my M880 (Dana 44) recently and since its mainly a farm truck I just cinched up the spindle nut and planned to torque it down after driving a few times on the farm. Needless to say one thing lead to another and I forgot . The first trip to town with it and the thing wanted to pull to that side. Way too much slop in there and the braking accentuated (sp?) that.

I need to replace the rotors on mine. My steering gets the herky jerkys when I brake hard, especially on a hill or with a load .

Good luck. These things need all the brakes we can give em!

Not to scare you, but wedsday my truck started doing exactly that. Well after checking everything i was at a loss, untill i got my bro in law to switch from drive to reverse while i was under the truck looking. Well the passenger side upper A-frame broke, right where the bushing presses in, when i jacked it up the top of the tire fell out about a foot.

Point im making is dont over look the simple things assuming its always brake related, suspension can cause exact symptoms.
