No, the '89-'93 Cummins starters are different than the later ones.
The gas starters are also different from the diesel starters.

I am not sure if that answers your question as it was pretty vague.

"pretty vague" was an understatement.

Since this was posted in the 1st Gen forum, one could assume she means among all 1989-1993 diesels, but that is still a big assumption...

Bummer. Stealing a starter takes a little time, effort and thought. Unless they unhooked the battery first there is a chance they could have shorted some things too. Better double check fuses.

I was going to suggest rebuilding your old one but obviously not now.

Not sure if a 1989-91 starter is the same or different from a 1992/93.

I would have thought my original answer covered that.

" '89-'93 starters are different than the later ones", I wrote.

If there was a difference in the '89-'93 diesel starters themselves, I would have listed it at that time...Maybe I was too vague...Haha

Auto or manual, '89 to '93, the Cummins starters are interchangeable.

I have used OEM starters here at my shop as well.

Well, I guess you did. And no, ha ha, you weren't that vague about it either!
