I would first check that your thermostat is actually working.
New parts don't always mean good parts.

Does you truck have a working temp gauge? Does it read that it gets warm?

Drilling a 4 inch hole in the inside of the heater box, cleaning out the debris, then installing a marine deck plate on my 1st gen trucks is a standard thing I do to them.

The way to test is with the engine thoroughly warmed up, upper radiator hose hot and heater control moved to full heat, are both heater hoses, supply and return, hot?...If so the core is clear......Ben

On my truck which is an 89 model there is a vacuum operated valve in series with one of the heater hoses just before they attach to the heater core. Have you checked to see if vacuum is getting to the valve?
