Differential questions?
Differential questions?
All,
I am changing the differential fluid on my 93 W250. I know the rear Dana 70 takes 3 1/2 quarts (with friction modifier for the limited slip). Anyone know if there are torque ratings for the differential bolts (for the diff cover, D70)?
Also, how much differential fluid for the front Dana 60? Also, torque specs on the D60 differential bolts (for the diff cover)?
I know my 93 came with a factory installed limited slip in the rear Dana 70. I assume the front Dana 60 is an open carrier?
I appreciate all your help!

I dont mean to start a war here, but even though my 93 FSM says to fill to 1/2 to 1in below the fill plug, I couldnt (now have a D80) hardly get 3.5qts in there without giong to the bottom of the fill hole. If one end up with oil on his brake shoes, he has issues elsewhere- maybe a vent plugged, or bad seal surface? I have close to 400K combined miles on these trucks, and have always filled them to the bottom of the hole with no issues.
