Did the CTDs come with a Factory lift kit?
I was investigating rear air bag kits yesterday and I was asked if my truck had the factory 4" lift. I said no at the time but now that I think about it maybe it does.
My previous truck was a light duty '85 3/4ton 4X4. My new truck is '92 3/4ton 4X4 with the diesel which I know has the heavier duty suspension and bigger axles. Two compare the two the '92 diesel sits MUCH HIGHER than the '82 gasser. In fact most CTD 4X4s I see sit higher than a comparable gas 4X4. Is this maybe what they meant by a 4" factory lift? Thanx.

No I dont think its a factory lift persay, the CTD is a heavy power plant and a heavy truck and was done to help level them out and keep them level over time with or with out a load. Did you notice you only see the blocks on the rear and not on the front if it was a lift kit then you would find them under both F/R. IMHO
Actually you will never see blocks on a steering axle from the factory or as part of a lift kit for a front axle only rear. Its not legal anywhere I know of nor is it safe. As a certified mechanic I would never pass a safty on a vehicle that had blocks on a front axle.
I did compare the blocks on the rears of the two trucks and the diesel uses a MUCH taller block.
I'm thinking that maybe this one manufacture is using ride hieght to seperate out the light duty 3/4tons from the HD 3/4tons. GVW would be a better way but I guess they had other ideas.
I'll probably need to go back and get more specs from the air bag dealer to figure out what I need.
