Dana 70 question.
I just finnished putting new outer seals on my 92' and have a question. I tq'ed them to 140ft lbs. and backed it off 120* (1/3 turn). How do I grease or lube the bearings?
you have to take the whole hub off. 2 9/16 rounded edge 6point socket. the gear oil lubes them but i always roll alittle grease on them before putting them back in because it takes awhile for the gear oil to make its way back in

so there is no need to pack the bearings with grease, just dab a little on and call it good?
So ummm, what if there already packed with grease? Just let the gear lube work its way in or do I have to pull the hubs and remove the grease? I took it for a nice 90mph cruise and back home to see if the leaking is gone and it is but the bearings felt like they were around 100*. Not really hot to the touch but warmer than normal.

There isn't any need to pack them, just smearing some on the rollers and races is good enough until the gear lube works its way out there.
Extra grease won't hurt anything.
As long as they don't burn you, they are not getting too hot. It sounds like yours are set up OK.
