D70 Yoke Removal

So the pinion seal on my rear axle is leaking and needs to be replaced, I was wondering if I can just take the yoke off and put it back on with the impact wrench or do I need to pay attention to bearing preload or something like that?

Just make sure you get it good and tight. A new lock nut wouldn't hurt.

I wouldn't hammer on it to hard.. you can crush the washer if you rip it on with an impact.. I do mine by feel.. Not to tight where you are pre loading the bearing to much making it drag.. And not to lose where you have play.. Use a new lock nut or some loctite..
