Cutting off the back half of the frame for a stake bed/dump bed
So I have been using my dump for the last year now and it has worked great, I am recently looking at getting a new aluminum dump bed for it I have found a few good condition used ones with in 4 hours of me, but after going to look at them. None of them will fit due to the way the hump is in the frame for the rear axle, it would make the bed sit way to high on the frame and I feel it may make it to top heavy, so has any one flattened the rear section of there frame or done something like this? I am also starting to get into sandblasting and am starting to build a 4wd stake bed around 12ft long and going to do a moble blasting kinda deal and thought that would be great to be able to flatten the frame in the back

2ndgen frame is flat in the back... same width too.
Also consider the fuel tank xmember and sender sit high and need clearance.
one of the snags you're running into is most cab & chassis trucks have 34" frames with flatter rails and dodge used 38" pickup-profile for everything.

I thought second gen frames were completely different then ours?
fuel ram doesn’t matter as I am running a large transfer take in front of my dump bed as my fuel tank I cut the bottom off of it and cut it at and angle to make a sump like bottom and layout extra baffles in is snd have brackets were it’s bolted to the frame and has a level sensor in it that is connected to the factory gauge in the truck,

So the frame hight is the same for the c channel? I could basically look for a stake bed truck some one is parting out then and that would make things much easier as I could probably get a disk brake rear all in the same swing of things

Frame channel height on 1stgens varies from 6 to 8" depending on year and model. The 2ndgen is 8" through the middle. It's transitions from thinner metal to thicker at the leaf spring hanger splice.
