Cummins t-stat

Where could I purchase a cummins t-stat?

On line maybe? Kinda live in the sticks.

Would a common auto part store have them or could they order it for me?

Thanks

The Cummins part number is 3802968.
here is a link to geno's garage they sell a gates thermostat through the mail

Here is another one I found that has it but I'm not sure if they sell on line

Just look in your phone book and call the closest Cummins dealer tell them the part number pay for it over the phone and have them ship it to you that would be the easiest.

If I can offer some advice, buy a genuine Cummins part, not a knock off. Cummins parts are expensive, but they work, With the knock offs, the temperatures fluctuate allot (20 to 30 degrees I've seen). The Cummins will go to 190 and sit there. On my truck, with the insight, I can look at exact water temperature, and it only fluctuates 2 to 4 degrees. Pretty good for a mechanical item.

Just my unsolicited 2 cents.

Yes, Do NOT Buy a cheap one trust me, previous owner put a cheap one in my rig, froze up last winter, put a genuine cummins one in, No problems. Better design as well.

I did a write up on the t-stats that is in the stickey, youll find that OEM vs Aftermarket t-stats are a "hot topic" that can start an arguement!

The part numbers are in the stickey if I recall correctly, as well as some pics showing the difference between the Cummins 'stat and the aftermarket one..
and remember to position the 'jingle-pins" correctly or it wont work correctly...

I bought the real Cummins one on Ebay for about $20 IIRC. You might check there.

I bought my truck at about 100k miles, and I have put about 150k on it.
The thermostat is the only cummins part number I have ever had to replace.
Luckily it failed open.

Its the rest of the truck around it that I am always working on.
